Ever-Lovin’ Jug Band
The Ever-Lovin’ Jug Band plays original music inspired by the jug bands of the 1920s & 30s, plus many old songs by the Memphis Jug Band, the Mississippi Sheiks, Gus Cannon, the Hackberry Ramblers, and more. They now have TWO full-length albums of original music: “The Snish” (2016), and “Tri-City Stomp” (2012).
Their sound is a great mix of ragtime, pre-war blues, country blues, old Cajun, and stringband styles. Though you can certainly pick out their influences, they are not trying to mimic anyone, and their unique take on jugbandism is refreshing and just weird enough.
The full band features great singing, banjolin, fiddle, kazoo, guitar, washboard, banjitar, cello, and jug, and sometimes foot-bass, in various combinations. They perform as a duo, trio, or four-piece group.
