Filly and the Flops
Filly and the Flops is a five piece rockin’ rhythm and blues combo who know how to put the dipt in the dipty dipty dip! Led by vocalist Felicity Hamer, the band boasts a jazzmatazz chorus of rhythm boys – Eddy Blake Eaton on the stand-up bass, Gabriel Lambert on electric guitar, Kevin McNeilly on acoustic guitar and Miles Dupire-Gagnon on drums.
Initially a side project for Hamer (The United Steel Workers of Montreal), the band has accomplished much on the eastern Canadian rockabilly and jive scenes, opening for Sonny Burgess at Montreal’s Red Hot and Blue rockabilly festival and rockabilly great Art Adams. Formed with Eaton and McNeilly (USWM), they were soon joined by Eaton’s fellow McGill music graduate, Lambert (G LTrio/Quartet). Performing alongside Lambert in psych-rock group Elephant Stone, Dupire-Gagnon is the most recent addition to the group also appearing on their second album – I Got Burned – released in March 2015.
With her effortlessly powerful vocals, Hamer has been an active member of Montreal’s roots/country/goatrock scene for years – and is the current chanteuse for Le Hot Club de ma Rue. Eaton, Montreal’s Saskatchewan born darling of the double bass, is known for his ubiquitous work with a plethora of roots music groups, while McNeilly lives in a wood fired cabin where he enjoys banjo picking and raising his prizewinning ducks.
